Ramasimhan's '1921 Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare' gets 'A' certificate; movie to be released after Onam, says director

'1921 Puzha Muthal Puzha Vare' is a film that tells the story of 'Variyan Kunath Kunjahammad Haji' in the background of the Malabar riots. The movie is written and directed by Ramasimhan.

The film was made by forming an association called Mamadharma and accepting donations from people. Thalaivasal Vijay plays the role of Variyan Kunath Kunjahammad Haji. The film also stars Joy Mathew and RLV Ramakrishnan in lead roles. Now the director is responding to the news that the censor board has denied the screening of the film.

"After seeing the film, the censor board of Kerala, of which Parvathy is a member, sent the film to the Higher Committee in Mumbai. Some scenes were cut. The Bombay censor board has given permission to screen the film with an 'A' certificate. But the Kerala censor board was not satisfied with it. They again submitted the movie to the higher authority. The Bombay censor board has again given permission to screen the film with the changes made earlier", he said.

"When a historical riot is depicted, there will be bloodshed. It cannot be avoided. That is why the film got 'A' certificate. The movie does not show anything like rape, abuse etc. The film will be released after Onam," said Ramasimhan.
