KOCHI: The high court has criticized actor Mohanlal in connection with the ivory case. Does Mohanlal have the right to approach the high court in the ivory case, asked the court. Mohanlal had approached the court against the rejection of the government’s plea to withdraw the case.

If the plea is rejected, is it not the government who should file an appeal, observed the court. Earlier, the Perumbavoor Magistrate Court had rejected the plea to withdraw the case of illegal possession of ivory. Following which, Mohanlal filed a plea in the high court against the court order.

The plea filed by the actor seeks to quash the order and to allow the government's application to withdraw the case against him. When the ivory was seized, Mohanlal did not possess any ownership documents.
