PATHANAMTHITTA: A 12-year-old girl is in critical condition after receiving three shots of anti-rabies vaccine. The girl suffered injuries after being attacked by a stray dog. Abhirami, class 7 student and daughter of Perunad native Hareesh has been admitted to Kottayam Medical College in critical condition.

She was attacked by a street dog on August 14, near Perunad Carmel Engineering College Road while going to purchase milk. The girl suffered several bites on her two legs and her face. She received the first dose vaccine from Pathanamthitta General Hospital and two doses from Perunad Community Health Centre. They were advised to take the fourth dose on September 10.

Abhirami went to a private hospital in Pathanamthitta last Thursday after feeling unwell, but was discharged home after her X-ray was found to be fine. But yesterday the girl's condition worsened. She was rushed to Pathanamthitta General Hospital due to foam forming in her mouth and from there she was admitted to Kottayam Medical College Hospital.
