If you come to this temple on Thiruvonam day at 5 am, then you can have this exquisite Onasadhya

onasadhya

When all the temple doors open in the morning, Thiruvarppilappan will have a special Onasadhya. Little Krishna is not ready to wait till noon to have the sadhya. The temple doors will be opened at 2 am at Thiruvarppu Sreekrishna Swamy Temple. On Thiruvonam day, the lord will be served Onasadhya, comprising of around 25 special dishes, at 5 am in the morning. Along with payasam, a rare ‘Thrikkari’ will also be served before the deity. Thiruvarppu Sreekrishna Swamy, who cannot bear hunger, is a foodie too. That is why, such a grand sadhya is prepared for the lord, said temple priest Hari Namboothiri.

‘Thrikkari’ is a specially prepared dish, cooked using gourd, papaya, eggplant, ginger, green chillies, pepper, coconut, pappadam among others. After which, different varieties of payasam will be served to the lord. The temple will be opened after the prayers at around 9 am. Following which, the very same dishes served before the deity will be distributed to the devotees.
