THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan on Wednesday said that the press conference held by Governor Arif Mohammad Khan was an unusual step. He said that instead of informing about his disagreement, the governor took a public stand.
He also accused the governor of turning the Raj Bhavan into a centre of political conspiracy.
The CM said that the governor should act according to the decision of the cabinet. Citing the Supreme Court judgment in the Shamsher Singh case, he said that the governor has no authority to reject the decision of the cabinet.
"Sarkaria Commission says that the Governor should be a person who does not interfere in active politics. However, the other day we saw the governor praising the RSS in the press conference," the CM said.
"A person occupying the post of the governor should stay away from political organisations. The governor and those helping him should make it clear whether it is right to take pride in declaring himself as an RSS member. The governor is saying that he has been linked with the RSS since 1986," the CM added.
