Covid grips state as cases on steep rise after Onam

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After a hiatus, the number of Covid patients in the state is increasing, according to health experts. Post the Onam period, thousands are visiting hospitals with fever. On Monday, 12443 people sought treatment in government hospitals alone. 670 people have tested positive for Covid. Currently, there are 8452 people in the state under treatment for Covid, of which, many are in serious condition. It as found that 336 people died in the state due to Covid.

Health experts suggest that people who seek treatment for fever should be tested for Covid-19. As the number of Covid cases continues to rise, people and the health sector are asked not to be complacent. The elderly and those suffering from other illnesses are at risk of contracting the disease.

People are going out without practising social distancing and masks as if the Covid period is over. But the doctors urges to continue wearing masks.
