THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Human Rights Commission has sought an explanation from the Transport Commissioner demanding a ban on school and college study tours during night hours. Commission chairman Justice Antony Dominic ordered the Transport Commissioner to submit the explanation within four weeks.

The action is based on a complaint lodged in the context of the Vadakancherry accident. According to the complaint, school and college tours in the state start and end at night. Such tendencies often cause accidents. The complaint also stated that over-speeding and drug use by drivers are increasing at night.
