Thousands pay homage to soldier who died in copter crash

KASARGOD: Thousands pay homage to soldier K V Ashwin, who died in a copter crash in Arunachal Pradesh. The body brought to Cheruvathur last night was kept for public homage in the library. District Collector and Minister Ahmed Devarkovil paid respects to him on behalf of the chief minister. After an hour, the body was taken home in Kizhakkemuri. He will be cremated with military honours.

24-year-old Ashwin was the sole breadwinner of his family consisting of his parents and two sisters. At the age of 19, he entered the army as an engineer in the electronics and mechanical department during his graduation. Ashwin, who came home for vacation during Onam, returned a month ago. Whenever Ashwin reaches home, he was active in all fields.
