House of teacher charged under POCSO Act, attacked

KANNUR: The house of a teacher, accused of misbehaving with a student, was attacked. He was charged under the POCSO Act. The incident happened last night at Kakkayangad in Kannur. The house of Hassan, a teacher of Pala Government Higher Secondary School, was attacked. The team who came with weapons smashed the flower pots and showcases. His wife Shafira sustained injuries in the attack. Shafira is the president of Mahila Congress Muzhakunnam president. She has been admitted at the Indira Gandhi Hospital.

Meantime, the Kerala Pradesh School Teachers Association (KPSTA) said the allegations against the teacher is baseless. He had staged a strike opposing government’s action to seize salary during Covid time. This complaint is a revenge for it, said KPSTA. Hassan, also a leader of teachers’ organisation, is on the run.
