KOCHI: The Joint Superintendent of Kannur Central Prison went to the court and wrote an apology on behalf of the Prison superintendent in the incident in which Peethambaran, the accused in the Periya murder case, was given Ayurveda treatment without informing the court. The CBI court ordered the transfer of the accused in the case from Kannur to Viyyur prison.
The court had sought an explanation from the superintendent of Kannur Prison for illegally allowing treatment to accused A Peethambaran. Following this, joint superintendent Naseem wrote the apology as superintendent R Sajan was under suspension.
Peethambaran is currently undergoing treatment at the Kannur Ayurveda Hospital for about a month. The court has directed to form a new medical board to check his health.
