Man, son stabbed to death by neighbour in Thrissur over verbal dispute

THRISSUR: A man and his son were stabbed to death by their neighbour following a verbal dispute. The incident happened at Palissery in Thrissur last night. The dead has been identified as Chandran (62) of Panangadan House in Palissery and his son Jithin (32). The police have taken Velapppan (59), their neighbour into custody. Velappan, who came home in an inebriated condition, attacked the two. Though they were immediately taken to a private hospital in the district, their lives could not be saved.

Jithin, working in an electronics shop was fixing a speaker in a car parked on the road. Velappan, who came in an intoxicated condition, questioned this. A verbal dispute broke out between Vellappan and Jithin’s father and brother. He immediately rushed home, returned with a knife and stabbed the two. Though the locals rushed them to a private hospital in Koorkkenchery, their lives could not be saved.

Chandran leaves behind his wife Radha and another son Gokul. Neethu is Jithin’s wife and children are Sayanth and Saraskrita.

Velappan is an accused in the case of stabbing to death a youth identified as Joshy in 2008.
