THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan will inaugurate the isolation wards with modern facilities at the state level on Saturday, December 17 at 12 noon in Kozhikode. Health Minister Veena George will preside over the function. Ministers Mohammed Riyas, Ahamed Devarkovil, MLAs of respective constituencies, other people's representatives and officials will participate.
Minister Veena George said that isolation wards are being set up in all constituencies as part of further preparing the health sector to deal with pandemics and other infectious diseases like Covid. A 10-bed isolation ward is being set up in one hospital in each constituency. This Rs 250 crore project, using MLA funds and KIIFB funds equally, is being implemented by KMSCL. The inauguration of isolation wards in 10 of the 90 hospitals approved for construction in the first phase will take place tomorrow. The minister also stated that the construction work of the rest is progressing rapidly.
