THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Medisep project, launched in the hope of giving comfort to government employees and pensioners are facing complaints and confusions. There has been no solution even after six months. The complaint is that prominent hospitals are not included in it and moreover, many hospitals that had signed the contract are not following with the deal.

Another complaint is that there is no treatment for all the diseases mentioned in the guidelines. Then there are hospitals that are giving only partial coverage in the name of package. There are incidents in which many of the diseases are not included in the package and payment is charged from the patients.

There are not many prominent hospitals empaneled in Thiruvananthapuram and Ernakulam districts where there are a huge number of government employees and pensioners.

There are allegations that some hospitals have claimed double the amount of the bill that was given at the discharge time. Complaints about this practice been sent to the related authorities.

There are also irregularities in the room rent and treatment days. The rule that says Rs.2000 can be claimed for one day is misused. Once the amount is used, there would not be enough money for the follow up treatments. There is coverage up to Rs.3 lakhs for the family.

However, the government is claiming that Medisep is going forward successfully. There are systems in place to solve problems and to avoid confusions.
