argentina

DOHA: France's Kylian Mbappe scored twice in two minutes late in the game, including an 80th-minute penalty, to salvage a 2-2 draw with Argentina after 90 minutes and force extra time in the World Cup final on Sunday.

Argentina had enjoyed the lead in the first half after Lionel Messi scored his sixth goal of the competition and Angel Di Maria increased the lead. It was Messi who scored the first goal for Argentina through a penalty. This was Messi's sixth goal in Qatar World Cup and 12th goal overall in World Cups. Later, Angel Di Maria increased the lead by scoring another goal in the 37th minute.

Thousands of Argentina fans in blue and white outnumbered the handful of French supporters, creating an electric atmosphere and effectively converting the Lusail Stadium into a home game for Lionel Scaloni's side.
