Construction of India’s longest elevated highway between Aroor and Thuravoor to begin in January

flyover

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Construction of India’s longest flyover will begin on New Year. The elevated highway will stretch from Aroor to Thuravoor and will have a total length of 12.752 km. The aim is to finish the work within two-and-a-half years.

The elevated highway will be six lanes with four lane service roads under it. In total there will be 10 lanes for transport.

Huge pillars will be erected in the middle of the four lanes and the elevated highway will be constructed on top of the pillars.

Roughly, 1.75 acres of land will be acquired. 46 buildings will be completely or partially demolished. The road is developed at the current 30 meters. The land is acquired at the points where vehicles need to get on to the flyover.

The contract of the Rs.1668.50 crores project is taken by a Maharashtra-based company, Ashok Buildcon. There are 20 reaches on the National Highway 66 from Thalapadi to Kazhakootam. The stretch from Aroor to Thuravoor is the costliest.
