Death of female director Nayana Sooryan suspected to be a murder

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The death of young filmmaker Nayana Sooryan (28) in 2019 is suspected to be a murder. Nayana hailing from Karunagapally in Kollam was found dead in her rented house at Althara near Vellayambalam.

The post-mortem hinted that her death was due to strangulation. A media reported that an injury on her neck was not recorded by the police while examining her body. The post-mortem report stated that the woman suffered an injury on her stomach. However, her friends alleged that the police did not even inquire about it.

Nayana had been working as private secretary of Lenin Rajendran for ten years. She died exactly a year after the death of Lenin Rajendran. She was very close to Lenin Rajendran and his death had affected her badly. There were reports that Nayana, who was under treatment for depression, may have committed suicide. However, the police said Nayana, a diabetic, died after collapsing in the room.
