AGARTALA: Union Home Minister Amit Shah on Thursday said that the work of the Ram Temple in Ayodhya will be completed by January 1, 2024. His words come following the support of Ram Janmabhoomi Trust Secretary to Rahul Gandhi's Bharat Jodo Yatra.
This is the first time a minister has publicly announced the opening date of the under-construction temple. Amit Shah released the date while addressing a rally in Tripura's Sabroom, where the assembly elections are to be held.
Amit Shah criticized Congress and Rahul Gandhi regarding the temple construction. He also praised Prime Minister Narendra Modi for speeding up construction. Babur destroyed the temple and left, and from the time the country gained Independence, Congress people got it embroiled in courts – Sessions Court, High Court, Supreme Court, again Sessions Court. Modiji came. One morning, the Supreme Court order came. Modiji performed the bhoomipujan for Ram Lalla’s temple and the construction work began,” Shah said.
“Friends, I have come to tell you one thing. In the 2019 elections, I was president of the party (BJP) and Rahul Baba was president of the Congress. Rahul Baba would say everyday that they will build a temple there but will not tell you the date.”
"Listen, Rahul Baba, and people of Sabroom, book your tickets. On January 1, 2024, you will find a grand Ram temple ready in Ayodhya", he added.
