NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Secretary General has issued an order disqualifying Lakshadweep MP Mohammed Faizal, who was sentenced to 10 years imprisonment in an attempted murder case. The order states that the MP has been disqualified from January 11, when the sentence was passed. The action as per the rules was taken in the wake of the court sentencing the MP to 10 years in prison in a criminal case. Lok Sabha Secretary General Utpal Kumar Singh issued the order.

Meanwhile, the High Court has adjourned the appeal petition filed by 4 accused, including Mohammed Faizal, seeking to cancel the sentence in the attempted murder case. The High Court will hear detailed arguments on Tuesday regarding the demand seeking to stay the execution of the Kavaratti court's sentence pending the verdict in the appeal. The appeal was filed by Mohammed Faizal, and his brothers Ameer and Padippurakkal Hussain.
