Union Sports Minister meets protesting wrestlers; will ensure justice for wrestlers, says PT Usha

NEW DELHI: Union Sports Minister Anurag Singh Thakur held a meeting with wrestlers protesting against Wrestling Federation chief Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh and coaches. The meeting took place at the minister's residence in Delhi. The protesters had levelled serious allegations of sexual harassment of women wrestlers by Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president and BJP MP Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh and some coaches.

Wrestlers Vinesh Phogat, Bajrang Punia, Sakshee Mallikkh and others participated in the meeting. The protestors said that they will not accept anything other than Braj Bhushan Sharan Singh's resignation. They also demanded the reorganization of WFI.

Anurag Singh Thakur stated that the allegations leveled by the wrestlers are serious and that he has asked the WFI to respond to the allegations within 72 hours. He also said that the government is with the wrestlers.

Meanwhile, Indian Olympic Association (IOA) president PT Usha said that the wrestler's protest against the Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) has been discussed with the association and it will not only ensure the complete investigation into the matter, but also form a special committee to deal with such matters in future.
