TROPICAL TRAIL - JK memorial Car Rally

'TROPICAL TRAIL - JK memorial Car Rally' is a special event conducted by Architects for Architect's fraternity across India. The event is hosted in honour of Ar. Jayakrishnan, resting with eternal love since 2020, fondly called and remembered as 'JK, the traveller and motor head'.

JK was an active member of the Indian Institute of Architects (IIA), twice adorning the Chairman title of IIA Kollam Centre from 2013 to 2017 and being Secretary of IIA Kerala Chapter from 2017 to 2020. His visions and expertise often led to good collaborations and friendships those which are still fastened in faith even during these difficult times.

A car rally exclusively for architects was an unfulfilled dream of JK that has now turned into a promise to be fulfilled by those left behind. The event Tropical Trail in this regard shall be organised by IIA Kollam Centre annually in association with IIA Kerala Chapter for the entire fraternity.

This year's Tropical Trail, the 1st edition of the TSD car rally from Kochi to Vagamon showcases the competitiveness of 33 teams of architects from all over Kerala. Participating teams are segregated into 5 different categories making it open to even 50+ years and families of architects. The rally is conducted by professionally acclaimed rally marshals experienced or trained in rallying.

The initiative also aims to promote the Architects Benevolent Society (ABS), a benevolent scheme started by IIA Kerala Chapter to help Architects and their families in distress by forming a mutually supporting network.

The rally will be flagged off by Late Jayakrishnan’s wife Nisha and IIA Kerala Chapter Chairman Ar L Gopakumar on 26th January 8am from the parking area of 1947 Indian Restaurant Kakkanad. It will culminate at Orion County resort, Vagamon, venue for IIA Kerala Chapter convention by 3 pm. A valedictory function is scheduled at 7 pm followed by musical night and dinner.

Kerala chapter convention ‘EnStories’ will be happening in the venue on 27th and 28th in which 400 architects from all over the state will be participating.
