Adoor to step down as chairman of film institute; to clarify stand today

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Director Adoor Gopalakrishnan and chairman of K R Narayanan Film Institute is likely to step down from the post. It is heard that Adoor will clarify his stand at the press meet in Thiruvananthapuram today. It is hinted that he is resigning from the post following his displeasure with the present controversies. Meantime, the government wants Adoor to continue.

The government is continuing to conciliate Adoor. His tenure as chairman of K R Narayanan Film Institute is till March 31. Adoor thought of resigning after Shankar Mohan resigned from the post of director of the institute following controversies. Many including the chief minister came forward in support of Adoor. However, it is heard that Adoor is going ahead with his resignation without yielding to this.
