Sexual harassment in ashram; Asaram Bapu sentenced to life imprisonment by court

AHMEDABAD: Controversial godman Asaram Bapu sentenced to life in sexual harassment complaint. The order is of the Gandhinagar sessions court. Yesterday, the court had found Bapu guilty of the molestation complaint from 10 years ago. Asaram Bapu, accused in serial sexual harassment cases, is currently serving a life sentence in another rape case.

The woman, a native of Surat, filed a molestation complaint against Bapu in 2003. It was alleged that she was sexually assaulted continuously at the ashram in Motera, Ahmedabad. The court found him guilty under sections 376 (c) and 377 for the series of sexual assaults committed in the ashram between 2001 and 2006. Asaram Bapu is currently serving jail term for molesting a 16-year-old girl in 2013.
