THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Apart from national highway development, rail and bus development, the government will also implement plans for regional air transport. In continuation of the establishment of a network of airstrips announced in the last budget, the government is taking initial steps to implement a no-frills airstrip network for tourism development, promotion of inter-district air travel and aid in disaster response management.
The government will set up a separate company on the PPP model to establish airstrips across the state. The government has sanctioned Rs 20 crore as equity support for this. For this, initial steps have been taken to prepare a DPR to conduct a feasibility study in Idukki, Wayanad and Kasaragod, the Finance Minister told the House.
