Six including policeman injured in lightning strike during Mangaladevi temple festival in idukki

IDUKKI: A total of six were injured in a lightning strike in Idukki on Friday evening. Five devotees who had come to the Mangaladevi temple in Idukki for the Chitra Pournami festival, and a policeman, were struck by lightning, leaving all of them injured. The injured were identified as CPO Ansar of the Idukki district police headquarters, Vishnu, a native of Azhimala in Thiruvananthapuram, Tamil Nadu natives Dhanalakshmi (57), Lokmani (59), Kali Ammal (51), and Ramya (36), a native of Thrissur.

Ansar, who was struck by lightning, suffered a fractured left elbow. He has been admitted to a private hospital in Pala. The other injured have been admitted to the Kumily Family Health Centre. Although they do not have any burn marks on their bodies, they are still under observation by doctors as they are in pain.
