MUMBAI: Former Indian Cricketer S Sreesanth came out in support of Sanju Samson, the Malayali presence in Indian cricket. Sreesanth did not doubt Sanju’s talent and said even former captain MS Dhoni wants the Keralaite to be a part of his team.
S Sreesanth:
“Sanju is going to Chennai Super Kings. This is a transfer in exchange for Jadeja. Such transfers rarely happen in cricket. If Dhoni, the legendary former captain, worked to bring the Malayali to the team, then that is a testament to Sanju's talent.
It will be coach Gautam Gambhir's decision whether Sanju will make it to the Indian team's playing XI. It is not easy for players from Kerala to easily make it to the Indian team or get featured in IPL. Sanju has come a long way, and I have massive respect for him. I hope he gets back to his normal self with an explosive innings in the coming days.
Many legends have gone through similar crises in their careers. It is easy to criticise someone when they are going through a tough phase. However, it takes compassion and courage to support them through the tough phase and get back on track."
