VAIKOM: A mother and son were found hanging at their home in Udayanapuram. The deceased are Thankamma (68) and her son Sunil (46). A suicide note has been found nearby. The note reads, 'I don't want my mother to be alone, I am taking her with me.' Thankamma had been ill for a long time. Sunil also had minor ailments.

The bodies were discovered by a neighbour woman who checked on them on Tuesday morning. The woman had enquired about Thankamma's well-being on Monday night because she had a headache. Sunil had picked up the phone when she called because she saw lights on in the house late at night. The mother and son were found hanging when the neighbour called them in the morning to go to the temple. The door of the house was not locked. It is also said that Sunil had taken the milk that the milkman had brought home at 7:30 in the morning.

Thankamma's eldest son Anil lives in Chempu. Only Sunil and Thankamma were at home. Sunil's phone was in airplane mode. Sunil, who had delivered flowers to temples for some time, also worked as a driver. The police have received information that he had some business dealings with a person in Kanthalloor. The police have concluded that Sunil killed his mother and committed suicide.
