DUBAI: Temperatures are reportedly soaring across the UAE. Authorities are urging residents to avoid holding ceremonies, including funerals, during the day. The General Authority for Islamic Affairs, Endowments and Zakat advised that ceremonies be held early in the morning or after sunset when the heat is less intense.
The directive is to avoid holding public events between 9 am and 5 pm, so as to prevent issues such as dehydration and sunstroke caused by prolonged exposure to sunlight. The General Authority for Islamic Affairs also clarified that "preserving human life is one of the essential objectives of Islamic law."
Due to the unbearable heat, the number of residents going out during the daytime has plummeted. Many events are held after sunset. Moreover, even fewer people are now visiting parks and beaches with their families. Children in particular are finding it difficult to tolerate this weather. Therefore, expatriates, including Malayalees, barely leave their homes these days.
