ABU DHABI: Arun Kumar M Nair, a Malayalee, has been working as an operating theatre technician in a hospital in Abu Dhabi for 13 years. At a time when Covid was getting severe, he stood in the front in the fight against the disease.
Arun contracted the disease in last July. When he turned positive, Arun self-quarantined. His condition deteriorated when he was in quarantine. A test conducted following severe breathlessness, serious infection of the lungs was noticed. Arun needed help of an artificial lung to breathe. Tracheostomy and bronchoscopy were also conducted. VPS Healthcare in Abu Dhabi handed over an amount of Rs 50 lakh for his treatment.
Arun, who lived with the help of artificial lungs for 118 days, has now miraculously recovered. He is now getting ready to fly home to meet his family and friends. Health Care Group said they would give job to Arun's wife and bore the educational expenses of his child. At a ceremony held at the Burjeel Hospital in Abu Dhabi to celebrate Arun's recovery, colleagues also handed over a financial aid to Arun. Actor Tovino Thomas attended the function and greeted Arun.
Although he played the role of a superhero in his latest hit film 'Minnal Murali', Tovino said that in real life, superheroes are like Arun. The real superheroes are millions of warriors like Arun fighting against the epidemic. Mankind will forever be indebted to their commitment to save the world from the deadly virus.
