KATHMANDU: An Indian pilgrim met with a tragic end after she jumped off the fourth floor of a hotel set ablaze by anti-government protesters in Nepal. The deceased has been identified as Rajesh Gola (55), a native of Ghaziabad. Her husband, Ramvir Singh, who also jumped off the building, sustained serious injuries and is undergoing treatment at the hospital.

Rajesh Gola and Ramvir Singh arrived in Kathmandu on September 7 to visit the famous Pashupatinath temple. The couple were staying in a five-star hotel in the city when the 'Gen Z protest' broke out on September 9. During the unrest, protesters set fire to the hotel, leaving the couple trapped on the fourth floor.

In a desperate attempt to escape the flames, both Rajesh and Ramvir jumped from a window. Rescue workers had placed mattresses outside the building to aid those escaping, but tragically, Rajesh fell outside the protected area and sustained fatal injuries.

Nepalese authorities informed the couple’s son, Vishal, of the incident. Rajesh Gola's body will be taken to her house in Master Colony in Ghaziabad on Friday.
