TEHRAN: Tensions between Iran and Israel have further escalated with reports of fresh Israeli airstrikes targeting critical Iranian infrastructure. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), a UN-affiliated body, has confirmed that Israel carried out a precise aerial assault on the highly protected and secretive underground nuclear facility at Natanz.

Previously believed to be secure due to its subterranean design, the Natanz nuclear complex sustained direct hits to its uranium enrichment sections. The IAEA, citing detailed analysis of high-resolution satellite imagery collected after the strike last Friday, confirmed structural impacts to the underground halls.

Other major nuclear facilities in Isfahan and Fordow remain unaffected, according to the agency’s findings.

Since Friday, Israel has launched heavy strikes on Iran’s nuclear and military facilities. The International Atomic Energy Agency, established by the United Nations to promote peaceful use of nuclear energy, has been monitoring these developments closely.

Meanwhile, Israel has claimed responsibility for a targeted airstrike in Tehran on Monday night that killed top Iranian military figure Ali Shadmani. Shadmani had recently taken over as commander of the IRGC’s Khatam al-Anbiya Central Headquarters following the death of his predecessor, Gholam Ali Rashid, who was reportedly killed in an earlier Israeli strike.
