NEW DELHI: Reports say Jaish-e-Mohammed's top terrorist Abdul Rauf Azhar is also one among the killed in India’s Operation Sindoor against Pakistan. He is the brother of Jaish chief Masood Azhar. India has been searching for Abdul Rauf, the mastermind of the Kandahar flight hijacking, for years. Reports said that 10 family members, including Masood Azhar's sister and brother-in-law, were killed in Indian airstrikes in Bahawalpur.
Abdul Rauf was the one who kidnapped and murdered Daniel Pearl, an American Jewish journalist for Wall Street Journal. Pearl was brutally executed in 2002. Rauf took over as the supreme commander of Jaish-e-Mohammed in 2007. His brother Masood Azhar was released from Indian custody after the Kandahar plane hijacking in 1999. Abdul Rauf has a clear role in all the attacks like the Parliament attack in 2001, Mumbai terror attack in 2008, Pathankot terror attack in 2016 and the Pulwama attack in 2019.
