CANBERRA: A sprawling seagrass about three times the size of Manhattan, USA, has been found at the west coast of Australia. It is estimated that the plant spread from a single seed for at least 4,500 years. The plant, scientifically known as Posidonia australis, grows by its own cloning process, making it the largest plant ever found on Earth, covering an area of ​​about 20,000 football fields! It's a single plant and is found that they spread up to 30 cm per year.

The plant which belongs to Ribbon Weed Seagrass plant group is found in Shark Bay, 800 km north of Perth, covering an area of ​​about 180 km and covering an area of ​​200 sq km.
