NEW DELHI: Popular Pakistani sports journalist Zainab Abbas, who arrived in India to report the ongoing cricket World Cup has been deported after her old vile tweets disparaging India and Hindu religion resurfaced. Zainab, who is on the list of ICC World Cup presenters, arrived in India just a few days back.

Zainab’s tweets dating back to 2014 came back to haunt her and have possibly ended her stint as a presenter in the World Cup. In the defamatory tweets, it is revealed that Zainab took jibes at the Hindu religion with 'gaumutra' trolls. With her old tweets popping up, a flurry of tweets and threats along with trolls reached the famed pak sports presenter on social media. Supreme Court lawyer Vineet Jindal also filed a police complaint against Zainab.

As per some reports, Zainab was forced to relinquish her duty from the World Cup and was made to leave India in a hurry. Meanwhile, some other reports say the Pakistan-based journalist left India fearing outrage and possible attack after her old tweets incensed the public.

According to the complaint, Zainab made insulting remarks against the Hindu faith and India. The saying “Athi Devo Bhava” fits only for those who respect our country and Hindu Dharma, the complaint said.

Meanwhile, Pakistan-based Samaa TV confirmed that Pakistan journalist Zainab Abbas has left India and reached Dubai. The media said the presenter ended her Indian journey out of “safety concerns”.
