Woman held for trying to smuggle turtles in bra, one dies

TALLAHASSEE: A woman was caught for trying to smuggle turtles by hiding it in her bra. The incident happened at the Miami International Airport. She tried to smuggle two turtles in her bra. The woman from Florida was caught by the Transportation Security Administration (TSA), a US based security agency during a routine examination. The identity of the woman has not been revealed.

She hid the turtles in the bra after covering it in cotton and plastic. One turtle died in the meantime. The second turtle was transferred to the Florida Department of Fish and Wildlife.

‘We want you to be able to travel with your pets. You can travel with turtles, but only if they are safe. Before doing so, you should understand the rules regarding traveling with pets on airplanes. The TSA allows traveling with small animals. They must be brought to the checkpoints,’ the TSA said.

Pets are only allowed on airplanes in approved carriers. They must be subjected to checking. It should not be hidden underneath your clothing. The TSA also clarified that passengers should check with the airline in advance about the rules regarding animals.
