KOCHI: In response to Kunchacko Boban in the controversy related to movie collections, the Film Exhibitors United Organisation of Kerala (FEUOK), an organisation of movie theatre owners, enquired about Kunchacko Boban's lack of clarity regarding the movie's collection. Kunchacko Boban had questioned the theatre collection figures of Malayalam films released by the Producers Association. FEUOK was responding to this.
FEUOK said in a press conference that the accurate figures were released. The figures were released because many new producers are being cheated by bringing them into cinema. The figures released expose the plight of theatres.
Inexperienced producers are being cheated by some groups. FEUOK President Vijayakumar clarified in a press conference that he did not say that Officer on Duty failed. Many people get a false impression after seeing the inflated figures, and it is to avoid this situation that we have released the figures.
The producers had said that although Rs 75 crore was spent on the production of the films released in February, only Rs 23.50 crore was recovered and that no film had recovered the amount spent. The February box office report released by the Producers Association states that the film Officer on Duty starring Kunchacko Boban cost Rs 13 crore and collected only Rs 11 crore. However, Kunchacko Boban responded that the production cost of the film was not Rs 13 crore and that the collection would be double of Rs 11 crore or even more than that amount.
