Veteran actress Seema still cherishes her friendship with actor Kamal Haasan. Seema talked about her strong friendship with Kamal while discussing her role in the new film ‘Pani’ directed by actor Joju.
The interview was given to an online portal:
"Directors have a revered place in cinema. I have the utmost respect for them. Even while acting in my husband’s movie, I used to call him ‘Sir’ out of respect for the position. While acting in the film that had my son working as an associate, I had no qualms in calling him ‘Sir’. Many have asked me to give up the formality but I am old-school and the traits won’t go away easily.
'Pani' movie's director Joju Sir showed the film to Kamal Haasan. After seeing it, Kamal called me but I couldn’t recognize his voice. He praised me for my acting in the movie but I still failed to recognize who it was and enquired about it. Kamal then took a jibe saying that I might have forgotten his voice due to his old age. Kamal still considers me as a child so it was surprising for him to see me doing a motherly role in the new movie.
I V Sasi and Kamal were good friends. They have done 19 films together. Not many know that Kamal has also acted in ‘Avalude Ravukal’. It was a role he begged for. He wanted to be part of the movie and if you look carefully, you can see Kamal in a railway station scene in the movie.”
