'Kani Kusruthi acted in Biryani for money, family has not seen those films yet'; Director Sajin Babu reveals

Biryani is a Malayalam film starring Kani Kusruthi as the lead. Scriptwriter Sajin Babu is the director of Biryani. The film was screened at several film festivals in and outside India. Now, Sajin Babu has once again responded to the controversies related to the movie. He also spoke about the things that Kani Kusruthi mentioned in an interview regarding Biryani. Kani had said that she did not agree with the politics of the film and that she acted for money.

'I received severe criticism from many quarters for making the film Biryani. I have not shared any of it with anyone. I have not created any controversy as a director. There will be no controversy if a film is seen as just a film. I have tried to make the film based on things that came from my experiences. When Kani Kusruthi was told the story of Biryani, we discussed everything. It was only after that that many problems arose.

Kani had said that she did not agree with the politics of cinema and that she was doing the film for financial security. A film is not made for only a few people to see. That is why Biryani was screened at more than 150 film festivals. The film received generally positive reviews, primarily outside Kerala and India. The law in another country is not like that in India. The important thing is to get the film made.

The politics and perspective of Biryani are mine. Biryani won many awards, including the Best Film Award at the festival in Italy, where the film was first screened. It also received the National Award and the State Award. Many of the pictures I have taken have not been seen by my family. Two of them have an A certificate," said Sajin Babu.
