KOCHI: A case of unnatural death was registered in the shocking demise of popular actor Kalabhavan Navas. Chottanikkara police registered the case. Navas was found unconscious in a hotel room in Chottanikkara at around 8.45 pm last night. Despite rushing him to Tata Hospital, his life could not be saved. Initial reports suggest that the death was due to a sudden heart attack. Navas was in Chottanikkara as part of the shooting of the film 'Prakambanam'.
The inquest procedure will be completed at 8:30 this morning, and the postmortem will be conducted by 10 am. The mortal remains of Navas were brought to the Medical College at midnight. A public viewing will be held at the Aluva Town Jama Masjid from 4 pm to 5.30 pm today.
Kalabhavan Navas is the son of the late film actor Aboobackar. Actress Rehna, wife of Navas, was once a prominent face in the Malayalam cinema industry. His brother is Niyas Backer, who is known for his roles in the television satire Marimayam. Navas was preparing to return home today after getting a two-day break from shooting.
