'Bison' is a new Tamil film directed by Mari Selvaraj, starring Dhruv Vikram. Malayali actress Rajisha Vijayan also plays an important character in the film. Speaking at the pre-release event of the film, Rajisha opened up about an unforgettable incident where she came face-to-face with death during the shoot.
“When director Mari sir called me for Karnan, I was so happy. After watching Pariyerum Perumal, I became a huge fan of his. I was thrilled that he trusted me for Karnan. Later, he did two more films, and I asked him why he didn’t call me for those. He said the characters in those films wouldn’t suit me,” Rajisha said.
“When you work with a director and connect well, you naturally want to work with them again. One day, he called and said he was starting a new film. He wasn’t sure if I would agree since it was the role of the hero's sister. But I told him, ‘It doesn’t matter if it’s sister, mother, or anything else, I just want to work with you.’”
“Even after committing to the film and attending workshops, I didn’t know much about the story or my character. I did it purely out of trust. I’ve done around thirty films in my career, but I’ve never trusted any other director this much,” she added.
“During Karnan, I had learned a bit of swimming. While shooting Bison, suddenly, Mari sir planned a scene where I had to jump into the water. He asked if I could swim, and I said yes, because I really wanted to do the scene. But it had been four years since I last swam, and I had forgotten everything. Anupama jumped in first, and then I followed, but I couldn’t swim. My skirt got tangled around my legs, and I started sinking. For about five seconds, I truly thought I was going to die. Then I felt someone trying to rescue me. When I looked around, it was Mari sir- wearing sunglasses, still in his shoes- he had jumped in to save me,” Rajisha said emotionally.
