Actress Chilanka is a household name in Kerala for her portrayal of homely characters in television serials. As of now, Chilanka is on a hiatus from the reel world to focus on the business she runs with her husband. With rumour running about her past squabble with a director, actress Chilanka now decided to clear the air.
Chilanka:
“There is no point in responding after ten years and then crying foul over the mistreatment we went through. When faced with misbehaviour, I wasted no time and strongly responded. However, I didn’t take the case legally as it would have affected the whole serial crew which had almost 50 employees.
I thought about that particular person’s family and the whole crew. For the same reason, I gave up thoughts about legally fighting the case. Recently I decided to talk about it for a reason. I learned that the particular person who misbehaved with me was spreading lies about the incident.
I faced a lot of trouble from this director. He would send me lewd messages often. He would mentally abuse me if I ignored those messages. Sometimes, he would find joy in comparing my body parts with my family members. If it comes to shaking hands, he would hold my hand and then scratch it. My husband once came to the set to settle matters but the issue only got worse.
The television channel stood by me. On one occasion, the director fired me from the set and shouted expletives which was so disgusting that I ended up slapping him. He attacked me back and I had bruises all over my face for the next few days.”
