Actor Mohanlal has been elected as the president of Malayalam actors' conclave 'AMMA' for the third time. He was elected unopposed. Unni Mukundan was also unopposed to the post of treasurer. The competition is now towards the post of General Secretary and Vice President. Siddique, Kukku Parameswaran and Unni Sivapal are in the fray to replace Edavela Babu, who has been the general secretary of 'AMMA' for more than two decades.

As per sources, Kukku Parameswaran, Anoop Chandran and Jayan Cherthala were ready to contest against Mohanlal. However, after strong opposition from the organization itself, the three decided against contesting. Jayan Cherthala responded that he has not submitted nominations to the post of President.

Jagadeesh, Jayan Cherthala and Manju Pillai will compete for the two vice president posts and Baburaj and Anoop Chandran for the joint secretary post.

Twelve people submitted papers to the eleven-member executive.
