Mohanlal's latest film Thudarum, directed by Tharun Moorthy, has become a huge success, surpassing Rs 150 crore at the box office and continuing to attract large audiences to theatres. However, the film's success is now under threat due to the circulation of a pirated copy. A video has surfaced showing a passenger watching Thudarum on the phone while travelling on a bus running on the Thrissur-Shoranur route.
In another incident, a video has surfaced showing a pirated version of the film being played inside a tourist bus. The screening reportedly took place during a Vagamon trip organized by a group from Malappuram. The matter came to public attention after a student shared the footage with actor Binu Pappu via his Facebook page. Following the piracy incident, the film’s producer has announced plans to lodge a complaint with the police.
Released on April 25, Thudarum crossed the Rs 100 crore mark within just six days of its release. The film marks the return of Mohanlal and Shobana to the screen together after 20 years. Other notable cast members include Prakash Varma, Maniyanpilla Raju, Binu Pappu, Farhaan Faasil, Thomas Matthew, Aarsha Chandini Baiju, and Irshad.
The screenplay was penned by Tharun Moorthy and K.R. Sunil, with cinematography by Shajikumar and sound design by Vishnu Govind. The film was produced by M. Ranjith under the Rajaputhra Visual Media banner.
