LUCKNOW: UP Governor Anandiben Patel made a controversial remark against live-in relationships. She said girls should stay away from live-in relationships or else will be chopped into 50 pieces. She said this while addressing the 47th convocation ceremony of Mahatma Gandhi Kashi Vidyapith in Varanasi.
'Live-in relationships are now a trend. I have only one thing to tell girls. You should stay away from it. You have seen what is happening. You will be chopped into 50 pieces,' said Anandiben. The governor also spoke about the incidents of violence related to live-in relationships. 'I have been hearing such news for the past few days. I always wonder why our girls do this. It hurts me a lot,' said the governor.
She had made controversial remarks on live-in relationships earlier also. Her first remark was at the 7th convocation of Jannayak Chandrashekhar University in Balli. The consequences of such relationships are evident when you visit orphanages. The Governor said that if you want to see the outcome of live-in relationships, you can see girls between 15 to 20 years standing in queues with one-year-old kids.
Expressing deep concern over the increasing drug use among youths, the Governor said that she would be happy if every youth in the state is free from the use of it.
