NEW DELHI: Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar said that all political parties are the same for the Election Commission. He also asked how the Election Commission shows discrimination towards political parties. Gyanesh Kumar was responding to the allegations levelled by Congress leader Rahul Gandhi regarding the revision of the Bihar voter list.
‘The Election Commission is neutral. Everyone is the same for the Commission. Some are deliberately trying to spread panic. Allegations of vote-fraud are an insult to the Constitution. There is a court order to protect the privacy of the voter. The false story of vote-fraud is being spread. Rahul Gandhi violated privacy. Used the pictures of voters without permission. The functioning of the Election Commission is being done transparently.
Time has been given till September for election-related activities in Bihar. All political parties should cooperate and move forward. Political parties should also cooperate to complete everything in the next 15 days. All voters, political parties and booth level officers should join hands and speed up the process.
More than seven crore voters in Bihar are with the Commission. Yet the false story of vote fraud is being spread. The Supreme Court has given its final verdict on the voting machine. How many are participating in the election process? All the allegations raised, including in Kerala, are baseless. In the election process, from the day of voting to the declaration of results, one has the right to approach the court with a complaint. Why was the petition not filed within 45 days? What is the intention of those raising complaints after so many days without doing anything? The complaints raised in Karnataka are also baseless,' said Gyanesh Kumar.
