THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate Vande Bharat's sleeper non-AC train today. The fare is 17% more than other express trains. The first name for the train was 'Vande Sadharan' but the service is now called Amrit Bharat. The first services are from Delhi to Darbhanga in Bihar via Ayodhya and from Malda in Kolkata to Bangalore.
The express has a speed of 130 kmph like Vande Bharat. It was believed that the fares would be affordable for the common man but it did not materialize. In express trains, second class seating fares range from Rs.30 per 15km to Rs.811 per 5000km, while in Amrit Bharat it ranges from Rs.35 to Rs.933. Fare in sleeper class in express train is between Rs 40 and 1277. In Amrit Bharat, it ranges from Rs 46 to 1469. There will be an additional booking charge and GST. Unlike Vande Bharat, there is no meal offered with the ticket.
Amrit Bharat has a capacity of 1,800 passengers and has 22 coaches. There will be 12 Second Class Tier 3 Sleepers. The express will have eight general compartments. and two guard compartments. Amrit Bharat trains manufactured at the Chennai Integral Coach Factory boasts excellent safety facilities.
