BHOPAL: A shopkeeper was allegedly beaten by a customer and his friends following a dispute over being called "uncle." The incident took place at a sari shop owned by Vishal Shastri in Bhopal's Jatkhedi area.

According to Vishal, Rohit and his wife visited his shop on Saturday, browsing through several saris but not making a purchase. After an extended selection process, Vishal inquired about the price range they were interested in. Rohit replied that he was considering a sari in the range of Rs 1,000 but could afford something more expensive.

In response, Vishal said, "Uncle, I can show you saris in other ranges." This comment angered Rohit, who asked not to be addressed as ‘uncle.’ The couple then left the shop. Shortly after, Rohit returned with a group of friends who allegedly assaulted Vishal, dragging him out of the shop and beating him with sticks, belts and kicks before fleeing the scene. Injured, Vishal filed a police complaint against Rohit and his associates at the nearest police station before seeking medical attention.
