JAIPUR: The police have arrested a woman who married nearly 25 men from different states of India in seven months. The Rajasthan Police arrested the woman identified as Anuradha Pawan from Bhopal. The police arrested her on the basis of a complaint received in connection with a marriage scam. She marries and then flees with valuables shortly after the marriage. Her only goal is theft.
The police said the woman is part of a marriage racket. The woman targets desperate youths. Soon after marrying them, she flees away with their valuables. Anuradha was an expert in her modus operandi, said Meetha Lal, an investigating officer at Manpur police station. She married many men legally. After staying at the groom's house for a few days, she flees with his gold, money and other valuables under the cover of night.
This information came to light after a youth named Vishnu Sharma of Sawai Madhopur in Rajasthan, filed a complaint against her. Sharma said that he paid Rs 2 lakh to two agents, Sunita and Pappu Meena, and they promised to arrange a suitable partner for him. They chose Anuradha as his bride. The marriage was solemnized on April 20. Two days later, the woman fled with valuable items from the house.
Anuradha worked in a hospital at Maharajganj in Uttar Pradesh. She separated from her husband after a family dispute and moved to Bhopal. She then became involved with a marriage fraud gang. These agents get brides like Anuradha demanding an amount between Rs 2 to 5 lakh. After the marriage, the bride steals and vacates the place within a week. The police have identified several accused, including Roshni, Raghubir, Golu, Majboot Singh Yadav and Arjan, from different areas of Bhopal.
