Days after op-ed row, Sonia Gandhi summons Shashi Tharoor to 10 Janpath

NEW DELHI: Adding more spice to the political drama, the AICC leadership summoned MP Shashi Tharoor to Sonia Gandhi's residence on Wednesday. It is reported that Tharoor was summoned as per the suggestion of Rahul Gandhi. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal is also part of the meeting. It is believed that even Tharoor requested a need for an urgent meeting with the Gandhi family.

Tharoor reached Sonia Gandhi's No. 10 Janpath residence as soon as he received the instruction. The sudden political move comes just days after Tharoor stoked tensions within Congress following his op-ed in an English newspaper adulating the Modi government in Delhi and Pinarayi Vijayan’s government in Kerala.

The entire state Congress leadership had informed the high command of their displeasure with Shashi Tharoor's stand. Meanwhile, it is still unknown about Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge's participation in the discussion.
