NEW DELHI: Aam Aadmi Party leader Manish Sisodia was denied bail in the Delhi liquor policy case. The action was taken considering CBI's argument that bail should not be granted to the accused. It was the Rose Avenue court special judge MK Nagpal who gave the verdict.
CBI had opposed the bail plea of the former Delhi Deputy Chief Minister, who is still in jail regarding the liquor policy controversy. CBI argued that granting bail will affect the investigation of the case and there is a possibility of the evidence getting destroyed. Sisodia's lawyer raised counterarguments in the court that there is no reason to keep him in custody and the interrogation stage is over.
Sisodia was brought to the CBI headquarters in Delhi for questioning and arrested on February 26. He cannot be released from jail even if he gets bail in the CBI case because another arrest has also been registered in the ED case related to the liquor policy.
