NEW DELHI: Delhi Police believes that the female doctor from Lucknow, arrested in connection with the seizure of a large quantity of explosives from Faridabad, maintained an association with a Pakistan-based terrorist organisation.
Dr Shaheen Shahid was arrested earlier as Delhi Police said she was the brain behind establishing and recruiting the women's wing of the terrorist organisation Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) in India. It is believed that she was in charge of Jamaat-ul-Momineen, the women's wing of Pakistan-based JeM founder Masood Azhar's sister, Sadia Azhar. Sadia Azhar's husband, Yousuf Azhar, the mastermind behind the Kandahar plane attack, was reportedly killed in Operation Sindoor on May 7.
Shaheen is a native of Lalbagh in Lucknow. She was arrested after cops busted a Jaish-e-Mohammed (JeM) cell in Faridabad. An assault rifle was also recovered from her car. Shaheena is reported to be a part of Al-Falah University and had close ties with Kashmiri doctor Muzammil Ganai.
